Fabrication
The heroal C 50 FP curtain wall system is fabricated in the same manner as the established heroal C 50 mullion and transom curtain wall. The same tools are used in fabrication as for the heroal C 50. In addition, a specialised drilling template is required to manufacture the fire protection curtain wall. T-connectors with non-ambiguous type identification and classification also simplify the fabrication process. The individual processing steps are described thoroughly in the ordering and manufacturing catalogue. heroal C 50 FP is available in two installation variants: as a flush-mounted curtain wall or as a recessed curtain wall. The difference between the two variants lies solely in their positioning in the building shell. A recessed curtain wall is located within the reveal. In contrast, a flush-mounted curtain wall is installed in front of the building structure and is fixed on the front side. A curtain wall is also considered to be flush-mounted if it is positioned between the floor slabs above and below and runs in front of a suspended ceiling.
Sustainability
Curtain wall systems made of recycled aluminium are extremely durable, and thanks to their insulating properties they have a positive influence on a building’s energy-efficiency. heroal C 50 FP can be equipped with triple glazing in a glass thickness of between 28 and 62 mm. Thanks to the modular system design, the thermal insulation values can be easily adjusted to the building project. The heroal C 50 FP fire protection curtain wall, with Uf values of 1.5-2.0 W/m2K, is also available as the highly insulated variant heroal C 50 FP HI, which achieves Uf values of 1.1-1.4 W/m2K. heroal curtain wall systems are sustainable throughout their entire product life cycle, as well as Cradle to Cradle Certified® (silver). This internationally recognised certificate verifies the use of environmentally-safe, healthy, and recyclable materials.
System compatibility
The heroal C 50 FP fire protection curtain wall is highly compatible with the heroal C 50 curtain wall system. Since all components required to meet the fire protection requirements are concealed within the construction, the heroal C 50 FP cannot be recognised as a fire protection curtain wall from the outside. That means the heroal C 50 FP and heroal C 50 can be combined easily into one curtain wall, and the transition from the fire protection to the standard curtain wall system is almost invisible. In addition, the perfectly coordinated heroal systems allow for reliable planning and fabrication. The FireXtech D 93 FP 30 CE fire protection door system for outdoor use can be integrated in the heroal C 50 FP EI 30 fire protection curtain wall as a single- or double-leaf fire protection barrier. The use of fire protection glass with a high level of thermal insulation (UG ≥ 0.5 W/m2K) is also possible.
Design
The heroal C 50 FP fire protection curtain wall has the same interior and exterior appearance as the heroal C 50 curtain wall system, meaning that both systems can be combined harmoniously in the same building project. The aluminium components of the heroal C 50 FP curtain wall system are coated with a highly durable heroal hwr powder coating, providing almost unlimited possibilities for harmonious design and perfect colour matching with heroal windows, sliding doors, doors, roller shutters, sun protection, roller doors, and awning systems. The highly weather-resistant heroal hwr powder coating is available in over 500 RAL, DB and VEKA shades, as well as shades from Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier®. Different gloss levels and textures perfectly accentuate surfaces coated in RAL colours. The innovative heroal SD surface finishing treatment creates impressive looks like wood, rust or concrete. Metallic-reflective looks can be created with an eloxal coating.
